The following is a brief list of some of these outpatient services located at our King Campus:

Chiropody Clinic

The Chiropody Program works to identify, treat and prevent foot problems. Call (905) 573-4817.

Diabetes Program

The St. Joseph's Healthcare Adult Diabetes Program provides assessment, education, treatment, and support for individuals with pre-diabetes and diabetes.
  • Services are offered at the King Street Campus as well as the Charlton Campus, and outreach services to physician offices, pharmacies, and in cooperation with various community agencies
  • Ask your health care provider to refer you to the program for individual appointments
  • Our care team works with you and your family as part of your healthcare team
  • Free classes are open to everyone

Diagnostic Services

We provide the following diagnostic services:
  • Radiology (X-ray)
  • Laboratory
  • Ultrasound
  • Holter Monitor
  • Echocardiography
  • Mammography
  • X-Ray hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., CLOSED WEEKENDS
  • Lab hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

East Region Mental Health Services

East Region Mental Health Service helps people with mental health problems work to rebuild their lives, including gaining self-confidence and improving social skills.

East Region Mental Health Service is committed to providing accessible, high quality care to people with psychiatric or serious emotional problems.

We are a team of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists who provide therapy for individuals, couples and families. We also provide consultation to family physicians as well as offering a variety of group therapy programs.

Health promotion and disease prevention strategies include community economic development projects for the seriously mentally ill. Also, through educational programs, we provide information to the public on mental health issues. For more information, contact (905) 573-4801.


Health for Older Adults Program

Programs include:

The Stay Well Program is a three hour physical maintenance program designed specifically for older adults who wish to maintain their current level of physical function and maintain their independence.

The Geriatric Assessment Clinic accepts patients from community referrals to receive assessment and treatment by a geriatrition at our King Street Campus. We welcome patients and address their needs such as falls, cognitive decline, failure to thrive, incontinence, physical decline, and polypharmacy. 

This Health for Older Adults Program provides assessment, case management, treatment, education and support to older individuals experiencing mental health disorders.


Specialty Programs


THE CONTINENCE PROGRAM


The Continence Program was established in July 1994 to help women, men and children who are having trouble with their bladder or bowel control. This may include symptoms or urgency, frequency or loss of your ability to control your bladder or bowel.

The Continence Program is run by Dr. Jennifer Skelly who is a Nurse Continence Advisor with 20 years experience in dealing with incontinence.

The Continence Program helps patients to:
  • Learn more about what is causing your problem
  • Learn ways you can help yourself
  • Learn about some of the products available to help you contain urine while trying to become dry

The Family Asthma Education Program

This program provides education and support to children living with asthma, and their family members. In collaboration with the family physician, a Certified Asthma Educator provides information that enables children and families to develop effective asthma management skills.
The program is offered at St Joseph’s Healthcare Charlton and King Campuses.

Women’s Health Centre

St. Joseph's Healthcare’s King Campus role is to provide health education and promotion of healthy lifestyles to the communities of East Hamilton and Stoney Creek.

The Women's Health Centre reinforces this role by addressing the need to provide better access breast imaging services and other health care needs for the women of our communities. These services are provided in an atmosphere of comfort, privacy and compassion. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team that includes radiologists, surgeons, pathologists and psychiatrists. THE WOMEN'S HEALTH CENTRE COMPRISES OF THREE PROGRAMS:

Breast Imaging Program:

The St. Joseph's beast Imaging Department offers women the opportunity to maintain a high quality of life by offering diagnostic mammography to women from the ages of 36 and up with a physician referral. Anyone under the age of 35 must be referred to us by a surgeon. Services include:
  • Diagnostic Mammography
  • Digital Stereo Breast Biopsies - This is used to accurately position a needle into a mass or microcalcification to determine the cytology or histology.

Ontario Breast Screening Program:

The Women's health Centre provides the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) services for self referred women aged 50 to 75 years. Women are not eligible for screening if they have had breast cancer, breast enlargement (augmentation) or if they currently have symptoms of breast disease requiring diagnostic work-up. Services include:
  • Mammography
  • Breast self-examination education

Mature Women's Health Program:

The Mature Women's Health Program will provide comprehensive quality care to the perimenopausal and menopausal population, and help maturing women maintain and improve their health and well-being.

The program will provide patient education and information and will also act as resource to specialist consultants and family physicians in the Hamilton Health Care Region. The program will be set up as a regional program serving Hamilton-Wentworth.

Moreover, the program will collaborate in clinical research trials and also provide opportunities for interdisciplinary learners from the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and other academic institutions.

The team consists of gynecologists, psychiatrists, and a clinical nurse specialist.

  • Physician referral is required for specialized gynecological services, mental health consultations and sexual health and aging small group sessions.
  • Women may self refer for well woman care and menopause small group educational sessions.
